I saw these really cool RVs today in the Lowes parking lot. They were very tall and obviously off road with massive military style wheels. Looks like something you might find on the Outback. Lots of people were stopping to look. Their website (http://looking4adventure.de/)needs a login, but it looks like they're based in Germany and travel the world.

That big storage box on the back of the larger one has a winch type crane to raise and lower it.

We saw one in town a month or so ago. I also saw a TV show about them a few months ago. they are designed to go where no other camper can go.

I saw one once at an RV park near Niagara falls that looked like a lifted military flatbed Mercedes truck, and on the bed was one of those hard-sided pop-up trailers, and a really long folding staircase to get to it.

Although they look interesting, their size is really going to limit where they can go depending on the local geography. In California I've had a full size GMC 4x4, a Jeep Wrangler, and now I have quads. There were just so many places the full size truck wouldn't go that the Jeep could go. And there are so many places that the Quads can go that the Jeep couldn't go. These big rigs may be great in wide open Country like the desert, but they are really going to be limited where they can go in the Mountains.

Ugo... These things look uncomfortable to me.

I guess RVing to us is about away from home comfort and style.
Spent a lot of time early on not being exceptionally comfy in a tent.

I know some people would give their right arm to have an RV like those and happy for them but I wouldn't part with even 50 bucks for one.

They're ugly and don't enthuse me at all. In our 50 years this year of RVing with so many different types of RVs, we have yet to find a place we want to go or be that a good 4 wheel drive truck couldn't get to even while carrying a small light or meduim TC. No, roads are not needed let alone a designated CG. We have boondocked in outback areas a lot over the years so it's not that we don't have any experience in it. All our RV's are and have been self-contained. Just my feelings...

you guys are way to close-minded...

These trucks are designed for travelling on roads no matter what condition that road is in. IE, if the road is washed out, oh well, keep on going, if the road is muddy, oh well keep on going. They are intended for travelling 3rd world countries where roads usually consist of dirt/mud.

I would do this in a heartbeat if finances allowed.

And very few N.A. made RV's would make it even close to as far as these guys have gone (that includes a truck and camper).
