As an ex-cop, I know there are lots of thieves. Occasionally on this forum and others I hear of people getting items stolen from the RV while camping. I've been wondering when was the last time you've been ripped off. Was it from a state/federal park, a boondocking place, or an RV park? What did you lose? What precautions do you take, by habit, to prevent thefts?

Fortunately I have never lost anything. I even lived in my toyhauler in an RV Park for 3 years and had two ATV's stored outside underneath the 5th overhang behind a skirt and never had any issues. Lucky I guess.

Same here. We've been camping since the 70's and have never lost anything.

Never.

Wait-

There was the time my little brother swore up and down that "the rabbits" stole the little truck he'd left in the sand overnight at Honeyman State Park, Oregon. That would have been around 1960 or so....

Things have been quiet since. But of course I haven't been back to Honeyman, either.

Last month a local guy near the CG we are seasonal got nabbed for breaking into several campers one night. He stole several TV's, computers ect. We were lucky and didn't get hit, but one of our friends had 2 TV's taken.

He had just been released from jail a few weeks earlier. At least he's headed back....

Not me but we were in the Branson Lakeside RV Park, Branson MO on Memorial Day weekend. The people next to us had their bicycles stolen on Saturday night. I have been staying there for 20 years and this is the first I have seen this. My brother was boondocking in the Ozark National Forest about 20 miles from his house. He went home to take care of some business. When he got back his 5th wheel was gone. Cops found it about 2 years later. Some dudes were using it to cook meth.
