We recently 45 days ago to be exact purchased a MVP 19rbs. I've been waiting for the registration paper work to get the plates. Today I went to the county web site to see what I had to do to get extended temporary plates. I had to go back to the lender to find out what was going on. They stated that the state is not recognizing the manufacturer of the motor-home. Really? Granted they are no longer in business but to say my RV is non existent. I will be able to get another 45 day temp plate but after that; Hopefully it will be cleared up soon.

Maybe your DMV will recognize it as the chassis it is built on. Most RVs are manufactured chassis the year before the coach builder gets a hold of it so it gets in the DMV records by Chassis manufacturer.

A few years back we bought a new motorhome out of state. We had 30 day plates to bring it home to another state where we had to title and get plates. I went to the DMV to apply for the title. It has to come about before a plate can be issued. About 30 days later I still have no title. The state tells me I have to wait at least 60 days before they will look into it. Finally 60 days and I call the state. They have no record of me applying for title. I must apply again and I do that day. Again I had to wait 60 days and no title. I contact the DMV again and they tell me there is no such Vin # and for me to contact the chassis maker and see what they say. I contact Ford and they verify the vin # is good and send me a letter to back it up. I take the letter to the DMV and they say they can not accept the letter as proof. They tell me I have to take the motorhome to the local police station and have them verify the Vin # on the motorhome. So I do that, take a form from the police dept back to the DMV. DMV enters the Vin# in there system and it comes back invalid. So the DMV now wants to see the motorhome. I take the MH to the DMV, they check the Vin #, at which time I pointed out there were more than one location the Vin # was stamped on the RV. They check them all and find they all match. Finally 45 days later I get a letter saying my title is being processed and I will have it within 30 days. Well in 30 days I still didn’t have a title and was told again I had to wait 60 days. Well thank goodness in about a week the title came and I was able to return to the DMV and get plates. I hate to think how many hoops I may have to jump through someday in order to sell it. Never did find out why all the problems.

Sounds like state DMV's don't hire the sharpest knives in the drawer and probably don't train them well either.

See if the DMV will put in writing their statement that the RV doesn't exist and carry that with you. When you're pulled over for not having plates, just show the officer the letter from the DMV. How can you be pulled over or get a ticket for driving an RV that doesn't exist?

Just tell them that you got it one piece at a time. Learned how to do it from Johny Cash.

If it doesn't exist, I guess you can park it anywhere you want
And think of the money you'll save at CGs....how can they charge you for an RV that doesn't exist?
Well, at least you know what to get for a vanity plate....
