For decades we had numerous large RV shows yearly. Filling several block long convention halls or outdoor venues. All the manufactures represented and huge discounts given by them. These shows were the place to buy an RV. Great deals could be had on the last day buying the display models.

The past few years there have only been smaller RV shows put on by the local dealers and not the manufactures. I talked to several dealers and they all stated manufactures aren't sponsoring very many shows any more nor giving show factory incentives to dealers.

So my question is, are the shows of yesteryear a thing of the past or only in the larger RV markets such as midwest, FL and CA?

2x. These show promoters once could get big bucks out of dealers to show their wares who did on the spot financing with nothing down and 20 year pay offs.

Actually the dealers have been consolidating right along with the manufacturers, ever heard of Camping World. The real answer to your question is the dealers have figured out they can sell more inventory without the transport costs by spending that money on other marketing methods.

In reference to the poster complaining that rv sales are down... he is incorrect. Sales may not be as insane as they were in 2005 but growth has been great in the rv market.

In short less shows because they have found better and less expensive ways to reach buyers.

Have you ever heard of or attended the Hershey RV Show in Hershey Pennsylvania?

If it is not profitable, the vendors will not participate. The economy has changed and shows no longer pay off.

Most of the legwork can be done with a few clicks these days. Once the possibilities have been narrowed down then it is off to the dealers for the touchy feely part.

The shows are fun but mind numbing with so much to see at once.

Did Hershey a few times & saw it shrink big time.
