I notice that a lot of threads on this site consist of a lot of gripes - what we hate about other campers, what problems we've had, etc. So I'd like to see a thread where we all list the reasons we enjoy RVing. What makes you get off your butts and go out there? Looking for positive and encouraging posts.

For me, I'm a part-timer who just came back from a week long trip along the Washington and Oregon Coast. Spent last night at Dosewallips State Park along the Hood River, and woke up to expected rain this morning. I opened the blinds and found a herd of 40 Roosevelt Elk grazing in the campground not 50 yards away! The dog had to wait a bit for his morning walk, as we enjoyed watching these magnificent creatures peacefully working their way along between the campers.

My wife and I love to go to National Forest,COE or State Parks where there's plenty of room between sites. We love being in the woods where we can go for walks with the dog or bicycle rides. We love cooking on the grill and sitting by a nice fire. And now that we have grand kids,we enjoy doing all those things with them.

living in south central TX, we seek cooler climes in the summer and look for autumn colors in the fall.

DW & I thought (briefly) about a summer cabin but quickly dismissed it as being too confining. Now we think about what's in a 1 or 2 day drive and if it has water for the canoe.

First keep in mind when you read this forum as well as other RV forums you are only seeing a small sampling of RVers. Most folks come to forums like this to vent about a problem or find a solution for a problem. So you are more likely to see complaints on these forums vs. someone that is really happy.

That being said I grew up camping... tents to campers to TT to MH and 5th wheels. My family travelled at least once per month to camp some where for the weekend. Each summer we would travel across country for several weeks camping along the way. I was in an active Boy Scout Troop so camping is in my blood.
My DW had never camped, I introduced her to camping. Now she wants to camp more than I do. We just like being out in nature seeing the sights....

Freedom, to go/do whatever wherever however we want to do. That and our unit being paid off, my wife and I call it our "homeless insurance policy"

My wife wants to go somewhere in the MH every weekend. Sadly we have to keep our grandson during the week as his Mom is a single parent with a long daily commute to and from work. We don't mind keeping him but I have a feeling DW would have us in the woods all the time if we had the time.

I'm channeling my Inner Girl Scout- concession to advancing age/laziness being that my "tent" is now on wheels and arrives in camp fully pitched.
