I was in line to dump today and the people in a travel trailer in front of me were disconnecting their sewer hose when I pulled up. I was thinking, great won't have to wait long.

Then while the husband was putting the hose away, the wife opened the valve and ran the (public) hose up the drain pipe, leave it for a few minutes to fill, then pull it out. Gallons of brown water would come out. She was standing in it in flip flops. She did it several more times and each time, more brown water would come out. She did it until it rinsed clear. The she sprayed off the concrete, hung the hose up and they left. She didn't even rinse her feet or wash her hands.

I'm not very fussy about dumping. I don't wear gloves. I don't spill a drop of black water though, have a tank rinser. I figure the grey water and the clear water from the rinser clean the hose enough. I spray the concrete off, wash my hands and leave.

Is their behavior normal or acceptable? Do others do this?

Its the first time I ever saw it. Just wondering.

It's the 'all about me attitude'. As long as it's easy and benefits them, no one else matters.

They're filthy hogs. And, there's not much you can do about it.

I hope the rest of your trip was okay.

I guess they already have hepatitis, dysentery, E. Coli infection, and intestinal parasites-so I guess it wouldn't bother them to expose themselves, and everyone else to that filth. Chances are that she hasn't washed her hands for a long time, anyway. Disgusting!!!!

Don't wear gloves?
At some dump stations the water hose has a curved end like a shepherds crook so it can't fit up the sewer line.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who will perform this tedious and filthy chore without gloves. It sends shivers up my spine just thinking about it. What does it cost, about 10 cents a glove? I suspect that these are the same people who never wash their hands after going to the bathroom, both No. 1 AND No. 2. You learn this stuff when you're 3 years old, for crying out loud! And I doubt that these people have taught their own children about personal hygiene either. Lots of ignorance out there.

I don't wear gloves, but I do wash my hands thoroughly after dumping and I avoid standing in areas of contaminated water that may be on the ground and I have never gotten sick in 15 years of RVing. Do you wear gloves when you go to the bathroom?
