I'm considering buying a Ford f250 ext cap short box to tow my Jayco 5th wheel.Jayco informes me that they have a pin box extension that will allow me to tow my 5th wheel fine with the short box and this change out. Would this work fine for towing or should I consider the long box.Any help would be greatly apprecated, thanks

I have a 2000 Jayco Eagle 269 RD fifth wheel and tow with a 2000 Tundra 4x4 Ext Cab with short bed. Have extended pin on Jayco and have no problems. They make a hitch that can slide back by pulling a pin if needed when backing and turning but I didn't get it and have not come close to hitting the cab even on tight turns.

The extended pin box is all you need.

I have the Jayco 277RBS 5th w/2000 F-250 SC, PSD, Short Box and since September have pulled it 11,000 miles and stayed in 30-40 different camps...many back-ins. You can crank your rig into the corner of cab IF you pay absolutely no attention to what you are doing.....Happy Trails...Ozark Ike

What Jayco are you looking at? I'm looking at the 285 and the 325.

That's gonna be a gas hog isn't it? Friends of mine got the same truck and now regret it due to very poor mileage.
