I drove the F250 xlt 6.0 crew cab again yesterday, and both my wife and I are impressed. I am in a quandry as to go for the diesel or the gas type truck. We won't be traveling but 2 or 3 times a year, and we want to use whatever we buy as a practical drive around in vehicle. I am concerned about the periodic maintenance trips to the dealer for oil changes etc. Sounds pretty expensive. We will be pulling a 32 ft. Argosy, and I realize the diesel would do the job without a problem. Is there any gas powered truck package that would do the trick and still get decent enough milage ( more than 10 mpg )? We will probably have to buy a used vehicle.

If you don't mind getting a little dirty, change your own oil. Cost roughly 45 bucks (oil & filter). You'll also need a 16-20 qt. drain pan ( 7 bucks at Pep Boys). Grease the front end ( 4or 5 fittings) at same time of oil change. I use my '03 F250 PSD CC SB 4x4 as a daily crewzer, plus it's our primary vehicle ( I'm not too comfy in the Buick Century). As far as gassers go, I feel you won't find many or any that get much above 10 mpg. With the rig your towing, any long distance, hills, or more weight go with the diesel set up. If you have to go used and want a PSD, the 7.3's will suit you well. I'm towing a '03 Jayco 325 BHS and can't seem to get rid of the smile on my face.
P.S. A 5 gallon covered pail for used oil and large funnel will come in handy too.

Some are problem free, some aren't. They sure have had a lot of buybacks. My brother had his 03 bought back, and now working on getting his 04 bought back because of the same issues that were supposedly fixed. Fords fix to the whole thing was to turn off the pilot injection. Wow, they worked hard to figure that one out.

It's funny how most folks who complain about the 6.0L PSD don't even have one...but their brothers sister inlaws son has one and had it bought back. Makes me think one of two things....
1) They are paid by DC or GM.
2) Believe everything they read on the Internet to be true 100% of the time.
