I just stayed at the Santa Cruz KOA and it I was happy to discover it was an extreemly nice park and in a great central location to the Boardwalk, the Redwood Trains, and Monterey. I was concerned due to the posts I have read about KOA complaints, but This CG was great; Clean, well kept, and it had a safe feeling to it. I have seen ads in magazines and it appears KOA is advertising stronger and I hope they are setting some standards that all thier parks will be held to. KOA is a good idea and in therory it seems it would be easy to have a successful park.
I might alone in this, but I personally look at safety 1st, cleanness, whats it have (pool, etc..), and price last.
I am interested to know what others think about what your priorities are in finding a campground?

I have stayed at 3 KOA's in the past year and found them all to be at least satisfactory. One was quite nice. I suppose the biggest complaint I have about KOA is that their prices are usually high for whatever area they are in.

We stayed there a couple of weeks ago and for TWO nights it cost $130.00 for a family of five. CG is nice, but not that nice for the the price. I will stay elsewhere next time.

How much space around each site. I don't like to be crowded together like a lot of coastal in town rv parks are?? Shade ect? I notice they hav no photos of the rv spaces on the KOA web site. Is this on purpose?
I am planning on visiting Cotillion Gardens, Felton, about 5 miles away up HWY 9, in the redwoods and roomy.

At our site there was maybe a 15'to 20' space of lawn /shrubs to the next camper (on both sides). These were the pull through sites. We didn't have shade but there are some back-in sites that did.
Didn't really pay attention to the back-in sites although if my memory serves correctly, they looked a little tighter.
Hopes this helps.
