Contact Ford Customer Relations. They should be able to tell you what you need to know about the weight ratings, or refer you to someone who does.

We have a 1997 F250 Heavy Duty w/460, 4sp auto,4x4, 3.55, extra cab and we pull a 2002 Wildwood, which ways about 9500 lbs. as we pull it. I wish we had a 3.73 rear end but otherwise we like the truck a lot. We always tow in 3rd, sometimes want more power which most people do, but it really handles our trailer nice. We get 12-14 mpg empty, 8-10 mpg towing, could be lower if we push harder.

As you can see from my signature I have the same model truck -1 year, don't think Ford changed the truck till '97 or '98.

Anyway, my truck as it sits is rated to tow 12,500 lbs.. The 460 in the truck you are looking at is a big plus, but you need to find out the real axel which you can do by using the owners manual and the vin code. Don't know about the MPG, and don't really care as it sits in the driveway and is used just to tow the toys.. As I have a 3 hour round trip commute daily, I would have to get ride of one toy to afford to drive it daily!

As far as towing, it does great. I have the duel cam reese setup and it's great also.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions
