Any good ideas on quieting down the water pump. Every thing works good on our M.H. except when the pump kicks on you think a train is coming by. Have check and it is mounted on a rubber base. Any ideas?

Make sure you have at least 6" of clear flexible tubing between the pump and the plumbing system. Check the routing of your water line to see if there are any areas than can contact the RV during vibration of the line. These are simple and inexpensive things to do. If that doesn't work, consider adding an accumulator tank. That will really quiet things down.

LeRoy,

Most of the noise is transmitted to the interior by the use of hard/rigid plastic pipe going directly into the fresh water pump. If yours is hard plumbed, slightly remounting the pump so you can install about 3' of "flexible reinforced PVC for potable water hose" avaliable at most hardware stores on the inlet and outlet side, you will eliminate about 1/2 of the noise. If a Shruflo, they have the pump to hose barb fittings available in straight and 90 degrees. I have made this modification on several RV's and boats. Your total cost of parts will be under $12.

You can do all of the above and/or you can change the pump to one of the new linear models such as the Flo Jet VSD or SureFlo 5.7... These pumps are REALLY quiet... I can't even hear my FLo Jet run under most conditions...

You can also try a pump noise isolation mount... My Flo Jet is mounted to one in addition to soft entry/exit lines and foam insulation around rigid water lines...

Here is the article for the PUMP NOISE ISOLATION MOUNT...

Best Regards,
Les

Just addressed this issue with my pump. I used some insulating pipe material used to wrap around small diameter pipe. Used it for the pipe section that goes through a wood joist and also packed some around the pump where it is mounted to the bulk head. Cut noise level in 1/2 to an acceptable level.

Recommend starting with the "kiss" principle. Probably all the information you have received is good but I would start by making sure the tubing is tied down and is not loose and able to hit a wall or pass through. Mine is noisy when the tank is nearly empty and haven't bothered to fix it; the rest of the time my new pump is almost too quiet.
