Please help. I had the axles flipped this week on my trailer and when I brought it home, my brake controller would blink when the brakes were applied. The strange thing is that when the rig is sitting still, it doesn't blink. Only when the brakes are applied while moving. The tech said everything is ok and that the brakes are working but it just doesn't seem correct to me. Didn't do that when it went into the shop. I did notice that the brake wires on the hubs have been changed. Could they be crossed? + - ? The brake controller is a Tekonsha Envoy. What should I do/look for?

The wires don't make any difference, white to black, etc. All they do is energize the magnets. I would check for a broken or disconnected wire. Sounds like an open ground on one or more trailer brakes to me. Go to Tekonsha.com and look for technical support and solicit an answer. One way to check to see if the brakes are working is to hold the manual control full on, locking the trailer brakes, and try to move forward with the tow vehicle. If any of the trailer brakes are working the trailer will drag. Another way to check, although a little more trouble, is to jack up one side of the trailer at a time and spin the trailer wheels and then apply the tow vehicle brakes. The trailer wheels should stop. Also, if the magnets are energizing you will hear a "humm" from the trailer wheels.

If this old memory serves me right I believe that an easier way of checking the brake magnets is to use a magnetic compass. The only "problem" would be making sure that you can tell whether if both brakes magnets are working or just one. It seems that you could position the compass toward the front of the camper to test the front wheel and toward the rear of the camper to test the rear wheel to reduce the effect of the second magnet.

Update: Purchased a Prodigy today and now while driving and the brakes are applied I get an "OL" or over load status on the controller after the brakes are applied for a few seconds. What does that mean. Over load on what? The wiring? One brake? The controller? Please help!!! When the brakes are applied manually they feel as though they are surging.
