Gday.

I have a Pontiac Montana with a Palomino Pinto - 98 ver. Absolutley I would recommend a Tranny cooler. My installer put a LONG "True Kool" tranny rad into the vehicle saying it was the only one that would not grieve GM as far as warranty was concerned. (FYI: Three weeks prior to installing a cooler, was in the Rockies..Van loaded, kids wife & beer), and had the transmission vent fluid due to high temp/pressure. That was without a trailer on to it. so YES it will be the best investment aside from a WD hitch

on that note...recommend the Reese 350 mini...Weight distribution as well as a form of sway control...excellent piece of equip.

Recieved this advice from others on this forum and it was well informed.

Best regards and Bon chance..

Yes, adding a transmission cooler is one of the best things that you can do to save your transmission when towing. When transmission fluid reaches high temperatures, it will start to oxidise and that is like burning of the oil. The lubrication and hydraulic properties of the oil decrease and you risk toasting your whole tranny. If there is only one thing you do to prepare your vehicle, get a cooler for the transmission. It will save you the expense later.

I have a '97 Town & Country and just had a trans cooler installed. Chrysler transmissions do not have a stellar track record, so adding a trailer (in my opinion) required it.

You will find that the front end of your van is not nearly as wide open as a pickup truck. I had purchased a cooler to put on myself, but changed my mind. Called 2 trans shops and my Chrysler dealer and they said that the bumper and other components have to come off (similar to changing the radiator!!!).

That's more time that I want to spend. Believe it or not, the Chrysler dealer had the best price, and they said the aftermarket cooler I already had was just fine. I had them flush the transmission while it was in.

My 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager SE has the Transmission cooler. I just took mine to the dealership to check because I saw it mentioned on the forum.
