Saturday traffic into and out of Myrtle is congested. I NEVER make plans to arrive on Saturday but I usually leave on Saturday. Most people get up and leave early Saturday to 'beat the rush' but I take it easy and check out around 11:00AM or later and most of the 'rush' has already passed. I also take a few local routes to bypass parts of 544 and 501.
For the rest of the week at Myrtle, just plan to go eat early or late and shop at odd hours and you'll not run into any traffic.

We just got back from Ocean Lakes what a fabulous Campground/Resort. I did notice the traffic as mentioned, but this was also at peak times of the day and evening. Stay off Ocean Drive in the evening and you won`t have any gripes.
We were more amazed at the traffic in Ocean Lakes! Golf Cars everywhere competing for space with Mini-Vans and SUV`S. Whatever happened to bike riding and walking? Vacation is time to relax. Slow down a little.

There is a south bypass to the campground on the southern end. We got caught in the "crunch" on the way in, but breezed out on the bypass. It's just south of the State Park CG

We just returned from Myrtle Beach (Myrtle Beach RV Park) and absolutly loved it. In fact liked it so well, we made reservations for 2 weeks next year. Having said that, traffic was a hassel but if you plan your trips not that big of a deal.

I go every year in august. The third week is when the kids go back to school down there. Myrtle Beach Travel park is by far the nicest down there. The big campgrounds are very crowded and have little space between campsites. Kids race around in golf carts at the big CG's. Very few at Travel Park. Just a nice relaxing campground. Visit all of them while you are there, you will see what I mean. Just my opinion.

We were at Myrtle beach last week. Stayed at pirate-land. Pirate-land is a great campground. It rained a lot but had a good trip. There was a lot of traffic. The signs tell you to take 544 into Surf City but it is under construction. There are a lot of people at beach because its a great place to be. Myrtle beach is better in the fall. I have school age kids so I have got to fight the traffic.
