Have stayed at the Harper's Ferry KOA several
times. They have wooded site if you like or
they have pull thru's which aren't too bad.
Clean & Convenient. The pull thru's will
accomodate large rigs.

I to recomend the Harpers Ferry KOA. I stayed there for about 1 week last October. They are close enough if you like to walk you can actually walk to the Harpers Ferry access area. I toured D.C. using the KOA tour trips they provide. I think we paid about $50 each for the tour of D.C. Trust me it was well worth it instead of driving yourself into D.C.

The tour from the campground started around 7 in the morning and we returned around 4:30 that evening. Our tour only had 4 people and a driver. The bus will hold maybe 25 or so but I doubt it would be full at any time. When you get into DC they pickup a guide who goes with you everywhere and gives you all the details, history etc. Very good trip.

Harpers Ferry is about an 1&1/2 drive drive from DC. There is a campground outside DC, Cherry Hill that runs tours into the city. To take a day trip to DC, you could drive from Harpers Ferry to the Shady Grove Metro station, there is a stop near the mall, museums,Lincoln Mem etc where you can get off to walk to the tourist attractions. Trying to drive in DC is the pits. My husband is from DC and recommends the metro. The DC thread on this BB has some good suggestions. Happy Trails B

Just returned from Memorial Day Weekend Trip to Harpers Ferry KOA. Facilities are very nice and staff is very accomodating. Sites were small but adequate for any size rig. Took the KOA sponsored trip to DC. Cost was $50 per person but nice. Also toured Harpers Ferry, it's a must see. You won't believe it until you see it. The campground is very accessible with less than 10 miles of two lane highway from I-70. If you like horse racing Charles Town is less than 10 miles.
