You sure CAN get cancer from fishing reels! Do you believe the California State Gu-mint would tell you something that ain't so???
The only part that they left out of the warning was that you have to EAT 5 reels a day for 8 years to get the cancer! Don't do that and you have no worries !

as george carlin once said swallowing saliva in small amounts over many year will cause cancer so just remember where the waring came from and live your life the way you want to

O.K. I'll admit it...CA born and bred....but I do agree that some of CA is...well different... but most of us are just normal everyday people!!

With the pollution in CA, I wouldn't worry about a fishing pole. Why live, everything is bad for you.

Not sure about the cancer but studies have proven fishing poles do cause divorce!!!!!

I emailed fishing pole company (Shakespeare) and just now got the reply....Here it is...
"We believe this to be the material called "glass" that is like epoxy that covers the guides where they are placed on the rod. Since this material is virtually indestructible we don't have any worries about it causing cancer. It is placed on the rod when made in a wet form then hardens to the state you see on the rods. HOpe this helps."
