I have a 99.5 F250 7.3 4x4 CC long bed with towing pkg,no camping pkg. I was going to get a fifth wheel and changed my mind and ordered a 9.5 Northstar Igloo. They say that the dry weight is just shy 2200#. I know iam over weight out of the gate (8800# gvwr). Just like almost all other slide ins. Thanks Don Kean.

Dkean, I am not sure if the air bag controls are worth the extra money to you, but I know I would not pay extra for them . If they came with the bags I probably would not have put them on. But this is me, and I am sure you will get posts from people who love them. Good.
My truck is a tall F350 4X4 so I just put my air valves right in the wheel well above the tire. Easy to fill and check with my tire guage. I carry a good 12 volt compressor but I have never had to top up an air bag yet. I run 40 PSI loaded and 15 PSI empty. Take care.

I bought a couple of air gauges from an industrial shop and installed them and the air stems in the truck. Then for $15 I bought a 12 volt compressor that I plug into the lighter and store under my seat when I'm not using it. Alot cheaper than buying the controls and compressor that the airbag companies sell and works like a charm. Also it sure is nice on a wet or cold day to be able to do everything without getting out of the truck.

Weird. I have never heard of anyone mounting the valves inside the cab, and just last night I was talking to my wife and we had the same idea.

If I had it to do over again I would have done what centurian did. I have the air bags with the pump. What I like is the ability to raise or lower the rear of the truck and camper by a couple of inches when we are setting up at a camping spot. You can even change the left right angle by a couple of inches, fine tuning before you drop the jacks. When setting up, if I need to raise front or rear I always make sure the rear is high by an inch or so, then let the air out of the bags to adjust level..That is the main reason I went with the pump. You can do the same with the portable pump but it isn't quite as easy.

DKean:
I have had Ride-Rite airbags with the compressor kit and in-cab controls in both my previous and present truck. I was able to transfer the bags and kit and controls to my new truck without a hitch. It is great to be able to adjust that pressure while going down the road for sure. On my previous truck I went 2 years by just pumping up the bags from the chucks I had mounted on the frame rail in front of the rear wheels. It's hard to get the pressures just right for that perfect ride. With this kit and controls not a problem anymore. It's an easy kit to install (about 1.5 hours) and it comes complete with everything needed. Good Luck..................Steve...

I have the in cab controlls, and love it. On my last truck I also had the in cab controlls. When I got this one, I went without at first. I have a 12 compressor with the cig lighter adapter. I would just fill the bags manually. I missed the in cab controlls, so I got them. I did the install myself, so I figured the $ I saved in labor paid for the in cab controlls.

I use the airbags to tweek the level of the rig at camp. We primalrily boondock -
Leveling at camp: I put a level in the upper left corner of my truck, and another on the door of my truck. When I am close to level, I stop, I make perfect the leveling of the truck with the in cab controlls, either adding or removing air as needed. I don't even leave the cab of the truck until I am totally level. My brother calls me spoiled.

I still can use an external compressor. But haven't bothered since getting the in cab controlls.
